I decided to have an abortion
Since October 2002 abortions were illegal until the 12th week of a pregnancy. What does the decision to the termination of a pregnancy mean to the psyche of a woman? For her body? For her sexuality? For her fertility?
In Suisse every year approximately 11.000 women decide to have an abortion. For the first time in history a TV team was allowed to film the "daily abortions" in a big, gynecological clinic.
When a woman is pregnant she is allowed to have an abortion until the 12th week of her pregnancy. For that she doesn't need a psychological report. Still psychological support can be taken in the case of an ambivalence. This process is often accompanied by fears and doubts. If a women finds herself troubled to find a solution the doctor in charge can guide her to other advisory centers.
Finally, when decided to have an abortion after the consultation of their doctors of trust and their gynecologists, or an advisory center, about the risks and alternatives, there are two opportunities for the women: an abortion by taking an abortion pill and the surgical abortion via vacuum aspiration.
